It’s finally here: the third and final core book for 5e D&D – the Dungeon Master’s Guide. Traditional point buy has quite a few problems, two of them largely standing out the first is that certain races are shoehorned towards different classes, and that it can be difficult for newbies to figure out what their total points are. Note: Much of this variant has been inspired by, and even lifted straight up from Starfinder. It's already a fairly linear progression. I understand your issues with not liking tables, and frankly I don't see a big reason why you couldn't just interpolate a simple formula and use that instead.
